If you are in Beirut and happen to be in the mood for handmade and mouthwatering French pastries, look no further. Anne-Marie Bassoul, a Beirut native, has trained at various prestigious pastry shops in Paris for many years and decided to grace the locals with her creations. I tasted her mille-feuilles aux pralines and thought I had died and gone to heaven. She supplies many local trendy restaurants as well as a faithful following of patrons.
You can reach Anne-Marie at (03) 382-436 or by e-mail at youkouli@yahoo.fr. She uses only fresh and top quality ingredients. The apricot tartes tatin pictured here were made that day with fresh apricots. Tangy and mellow with a crispy and buttery pate brisee, this was the most delightful accompaniment to our afternoon tea. She will deliver to order tartes, mille-feuilles, cakes, vacherins, etc.
